the pride and prejudice musical we deserve:

  • darcy doesn’t sing a single note even during conversations where everyone else is singing at him that is until the argument following his first attempt at proposing to lizzy where you can see his restraint fall away
  • his first big solo is the letter he writes her
  • gelsey bell is mary and the unofficial narrator and she sits down at her piano to describe whats going on but before she can ever reveal her feelings on the matter, starting with that gelsey bell scream, mr bennet comes over and does the whole ‘that’s nice dear but give someone else a turn’
  • mr wickham has this huge ballad about how darcy ruined his life and its super melodramatic and touching
  • mr collins proposal to lizzy is an absolute bop that he gets so into he forgets for a moment what he’s doing he’s just owning the stage
  • wickham has a song where he’s trying to seduce lydia but she’s not even listening she’s just monologuing about how excited she is to get laid
  • during darcy’s second proposal he keeps hesitating waiting for lizzy to interrupt him like she has done every time before but she doesn’t say anything until he’s finished
  • at the end mary sits down at the piano and right where she’d usually be interrupted, kitty joins her and harmonises
  •  jane and bingley have the adorable upbeat romantic duet which is just them being super polite like ‘oh so nice to have you here’ ‘so nice to be here’ interspersed with their inner monologue which is just them being like fucking jesus I’m so in love
  • the bingley sisters probably have a really cool mean solo
  • lady catherine has this terrifying disney villain song in the garden
  • there’s for sure a song about ribbon shopping

I absolutely hate musicals but I really want someone to write this

THIS IS THE BEST COMMERCIAL EVER

I’ve reblogged this so many times because I truly think every parent should involve themselves with what their child enjoys.

Not to mention this is an act of solidarity. He’s saying “even if the entire world is against you, I’m on your side.” Which I think is important for a kid to know. He’s refusing to be a bully to his child, even if he doesn’t understand.

I work at Hot Topic and we had a white suburban dad in who was buying matching heavy metal/screamo band shirts for him and his teenage daughter and said “To be honest, I think this stuff sounds like garbage, but she likes it so we listen to it together and we’re going to the concert for Christmas.” And it was just really heartwarming to see him so involved in his child’s life and validating her interests.

I WILL NEVER NOT REBLOG THIS.

“I don’t get it, but I love how you love it” is one of the best things anyone can say. My entire family asks questions about comics because they want to share my enthusiasm for them and support me, even though they otherwise wouldn’t pay attention to the industry at all.

I cried when I first saw this

This is amazing and really important

I went though a goth faze in my teens (like most) and I wanted more than anything to paint my room black. My mom was supportive of my personal expression in terms of my clothes and hair and accessories but she was genuinely concerned about the toll a black room would take on my mental health (I was already prone to recurring depression at that point and still am). I begged for months to repaint my room, but she wouldn’t budge.

One weekend i spent with my dad and when I came back she had repainted my room. A beautiful deep blue on three walls (my favourite colour), lovely sky blue on the ceiling, and one wall was black. The black wall had been sanded smooth and painted with several coats of chalkboard paint. She gave me a couple boxes of chalk and told me to have at it. I LOVED that black wall and wrote on it every day. I drew on it, I doodled, I wrote out my favourite emo song lyrics, wrote reminders for myself, anything I wanted. It was my favourite part of my room and was something that it would have never occurred to me to ask for. It was something only my very creative and clever mom could have come up with and I’m still grateful to her for it.

In retrospect, a room of black walls would indeed have been encouraging a reacurrence of my depression and my moms answer was the perfect compromise. That black wall ended up being the most colourful part of my room.

Wow this is really beautiful. You have a great mom

I’ll cry right now.

My dad was really supportive when I had my emo/goth faze. I’m still kinda goth.

My mom later joined in.

I wish my parents were like this.

The beginning.

actually IIRC this was the first photo with a specific type of camera or equipment  “cos THE progenative shitlord of  cat memes was Harry Pointer. And around 1870 he decided that Au Naturelle  photos of cats weren’t gonna cut it, and started doing shit like this:

then he realised HE COULD CAPTION THEM

and thus the dignity of the feline was forever destroyed.

The first cat memes.

What’s also neat to study with screencaps of disney movies is how they use color in their lines. They don’t just pick any colors!

For example, check out Jasmine and Mulan. Both of them have black hair, but we get subtle differences between them.

Mulan, for example, has hair made with dark brown lines. We get the idea that her hair is probably a very deep, deep shade of brown, or that as light filters through her hair, we’re seeing that brown subsurface scattering.

Jasmine, meanwhile, has hair that is so deep black we sometimes see it as blue. This is black hair with cool undertones, as opposed to Mulan’s hair with warm undertones. Which in pure color speak is impossible, but is something that happens with hair, since hair is mildly translucent and reflective.

You can even compare that further with Esmeralda, who has grey lines that give the illusion of neutral undertones.

They can also use color to give characters that fantasy feel or the feel of completely unnatural hair. Princess Aurora, for example, has technically darker hair than Charlotte LaBouff. But, with the lighter outlines? Aurora’s hair looks absolutely fairytale golden, while Lottie’s looks like a more natural flaxen blonde.

How disney uses color isn’t the be-all end-all, but they can give you some really neat ideas for showing a lot of information in a condensed drawing.

it is so fucking funny to me that, like, crowley canonically “hung around the wrong people” and “asked questions” and promptly fell, whereas aziraphale completely forsook his holy duty to give away a flaming sword and blatantly LIED TO GOD about it, but he got to stay an angel

crowley: *crosses a line*

god: ok thats it youre fallen

aziraphale: *crosses about five thousand lines at once*

god, munching popcorn: ok that was really impressive actually. im gonna let you stay

god: no liars allowed

aziraphale: 😐

god: one exception you look very polite

that is the only good addition thank you
